Guild News Fall Edition

Hello and Welcome to the Fall Edition of our Guild News.

We will catch you up on what is currently happening and what we are currently planning. As the next expansion release of World of Warcraft looms on the horizon, we have begun to see a slow trickle of players returning to World of Warcraft along with some new members eager to get themselves ready for the next expansion. Some of our core members have begun trying to carve out some extra time from their unusually busy real life schedules this year to get back into the game and get their characters ready.

Remember Mumble is our guild’s VOIP client. Download the latest version 1.2.8 from Mumble.com or SourceForge for the PC, the Mac and the iPhone. Be sure to use the Audio Wizard when setting it up for the first time and you’ll avoid all the hassles with troubleshooting.  Server and port addresses are located in the in-game Guild Info Tab.  Once you are in, select yourself and then click register so we can add you to the access control groups. Please use a name we would recognize.
If you still need help, please ask Miroki in Guild Chat.

Special Recognition goes out our Guild Officers on Alterac Mountain who have been actively keeping our guild alive and re-leveled back up to level 24. Only 1 level to go before WoD go-live!

Important Reminder !!

Blizzard had previously announced that in preparation for the release of the new Warlords of Draenor expansion, they are releasing ALL inactive character names for reuse by anyone creating a new character or by paid name change service. If you have any names that you want to preserve, you will need to log in to World of Warcraft and enter the game using each character whose name you wish to retain ASAP. You snooze you loose.

Connected Realms Update

Since Alterac Mountain was successfully connected to the Balnazzar, Gorgonnash, Forgotten Coast, and Warsong realms, we have seen a steady rise in activity. This being just the first phase in getting all our gang back together again. The Auction House is robust and it’s good to see crowds gather at the auction houses even in places like Shat city and Dalaran. Selling prices are close to the realm wide average. Most common items fetching prices higher than that of Mal’Ganis with more rare items higher than average. So far I am pleased with the increase in activity. We have been getting requests to join our guild and have already accepted new members in although we have yet to begin formal advertisements. Several members have been leveling alts on Alterac Mountain in preparation for the next expansion. All of the new content including normal and heroic raids will be cross realm now. We are looking for volunteers to help us link up our guild chat between realms using the add-on GreenWall. We will begin doing some heavy recruiting for both Alterac Mountain and Mal’Ganis guilds once we firm up our real life schedules and have a more active presence.

Meanwhile we encourage All Returning Members on Kel’Thuzad and Alterac Mountain to get in contact with one of the officers if you are interested in cross realm grouping so we can help each other level up and gear up.  Contact Miroki or Sumiko in Mumble for more information.  If you have recently pre-purchased the new expansion and was thinking of using the free boost to 90 and you don’t currently have a toon on Mal’Ganis or Alterac Mountain, you might want to consider boosting a new toon there.

Prepare Yourself. The Iron Horde Invasion Has Begun !!!!

October 14th was the official release of World of Warcraft 6.02 and begins introducing the storyline for the upcoming expansion featuring new content heralding the Iron Horde incursion, updates to the skills and abilities for every class, and a host of gameplay adjustments.

The Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands has turned blood red. Hundreds of strange-looking orcs are violently pouring into Azeroth, killing everything that stands in their path. Nethergarde and Okril’lon have already fallen, and while the Horde and the Alliance moved as quickly as they could to get reinforcements to their people, they are too late. The Iron Horde invasion has begun.

In this desperate hour, King Wrynn and Warchief Vol’jin have called upon their greatest champions to join the front lines in the Blasted Lands and do whatever they can to stop the Iron Horde . . . before the rest of Azeroth falls before them.

Word of this surprise attack sends players rushing to the Blasted Lands to reckon with the barbarous infiltration. After the fall of a high ranking Iron Horde general named Gar’mak Bladetwist, you’ll report what you’ve witnessed in the Blasted Lands to King Wrynn or Warchief Vol’jin. It’s apparent to both the Horde and the Alliance that this is only the first salvo in a much larger conflict, and the only way to win is to take the fight directly to the Iron Horde . . . by journeying through the Dark Portal into Draenor.

An advance party of Iron Horde forces has barged right out of the Blasted Lands and pushed all the way to Blackrock Mountain, where they found refuge and supplies in Upper Blackrock Spire. There can be only one response: the Alliance and the Horde of Azeroth must face this iron incursion head on.

Available to level-90 characters for a limited time, this specially revamped five-player version of Upper Blackrock Spire sets the stage for the coming counterstrike against the Iron Horde. Here, you will face Orebender Gor'ashan, Kyrak, and Commander Tharbek as you begin to take the fight to the enemy and sharpen the skills—and swords—you’ll need to succeed on an unwelcoming alien world.

Things about Warlords you Need to Know

As you have probably heard, they have improved the look of the character models which in most cases are a welcome improvement. There are also some changes to the user interface which now take the place of some add-ons. There is a new bag sort feature along with a setting where you can choose what categories of items automatically drops into which bags. The categories are: Equipment, Consumables, or Trade Goods. Bag item borders are now colored to indicate quality of the item. Recently looted items will have a glow to make it easier to find. The world map and quest log is more tightly integrated with new tabbed drop downs to make it easier to jump to another map. The map now fades out when moving much like the map in SWTOR. The pet and mount interface added a new tab for toys that you can collect so they no longer take up room in your bags. You can now set your favorite mounts and by selecting Shift-P it will pick a random mount for you from your favorites depending on your current zone. Your bank now has a separate section for crafting mats which is the size of your basic bank. It costs 100 gold to unlock. There is a button to deposit all your mats from your bags into the bank. When you craft it automatically pulls mats from your crafting mats section of your bank no matter where you are in the world. The add-on manager is now in game. For those that use add-ons, 6.02 releases of some add-ons are now available on WoW Ace, WoW Interface, and Curse Forge.

Important Gear Changes:
•    Stat squish: all of your stats have been ‘squished’ in the patch.
•    Reforging is gone. All gear returns to its pre-reforged state. Be aware that many of us have reforged so much gear, and made it so customized, that the original items might not actually be very good for us anymore.
•    Hit and Expertise are gone
•    Dodge and parry are not worth much anymore. Critical Strike now gives some classes and specs parry.
•    Agility and Intellect no longer give Critical Strike
•    Professions no longer give bonuses in combat.
•    Professions no longer grant gear perks and such perks have been removed from the game. Such as Jewel crafting gems now have the same amount of stats as a regular gem. Blacksmiths no longer get extra gem slots etc.
•    Gear upgraded with Valor stays upgraded. You can still upgrade MoP gear, but now you can use 50 lesser charms per upgrade instead of Valor.
•    There are New level 550 gear drops available from Upper Blackrock Spire for a limited time.

Enchanting
•    Old enchants that have hit and expertise have been converted to other stats.
•    Old enchants can’t be applied to items higher than iLevel 600. However, you can still apply MoP enchants to your legendary cloak, even if it’s upgraded past 600.
•    New enchants in Warlords will only cover neck, cloak, rings and weapons. You can also modify the appearance of the weapon enchants.

Jewelcrafting
•    Existing (old) gear will keep sockets and bonuses. Existing gems will keep their original stats (including primary stats), with the exception of hit and expertise, which are converted to other stats. Hit is converted to Critical Strike on old gems and Expertise is converted to haste on old gems.
•    JC Gems (Serpent’s Eyes) can still be crafted, but they have the same value as a regular blue quality gem now, since professions no longer give additional combat bonuses.
•    Stat squish drops old blue quality gems down to 10 for primary stats and 20 for secondary.
•    In Warlords, there will not be new hybrid gems, and new gems no longer give primary stats. Gem socket colors and bonuses will also be gone for new gear.

Alchemy
•    Flasks and potions increase primary stats in Warlords! There are 4 types of flasks that affect agility, strength, intellect and stamina. The regular ones give 200 stats, and greater give 250 stats.
•    Potions will affect primary stats as well, among other things.

Cooking
•    New recipes in Warlords increase secondary stats as opposed to primary stats in MoP.
•    The number of ‘servings’ you get increase with your cooking skill.

Engineering, Blacksmithing, Leatherworking and Tailoring
•    In Warlords, each profession can make new 630 and 640 iLevel gear that is BoE and has a random stat. The random stats can be ‘rerolled’ with special essences. Those crafted items can also be upgraded twice with special ‘items’ as follows:
- 630 iLevel gets upgraded to 640 and 655
- 640 iLevel gets upgraded to 655 and 665

Herbalism, Mining, and Skinning
They can all be done without any required skill level in Warlords. As you get a higher skill level, you get better stuff when picking flowers, mining nodes or skinning wildlife.

Increased Drop Rates for 6.0.2!
Garrosh heirloom drop rate significantly increased. If you don’t have an heirloom yet, you have a 100% chance to get a spec-appropriate item when killing garrosh on normal or higher.

REVAN HAS RETURNED !!!

Shadow of Revan a NEW STORY-DRIVEN DIGITAL EXPANSION LAUNCHES DECEMBER 9TH!

In the midst of the ongoing war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic, a long-hidden sect of extremists has emerged, led by the enigmatic former hero of the Jedi Civil War - Revan. These “Revanites” are mustering an army with an apocalyptic plan that will leave the Republic and the Empire in ashes.

Prepare to face Revan and his fanatical followers as you adventure through five new levels of story-driven Star Wars™ missions, reach new heights of power at an increased Level Cap of 60, explore exciting worlds and fight new high-level multiplayer Flashpoints and Operations in the Digital Expansion, Shadow of Revan!

Fight to Stop Revan’s Master Plan - Embark on an epic new storyline with full voiceover and dramatic cinematic moments as you prepare to face Revan, one of the most powerful characters in The Old Republic era.

Explore the Savage New Worlds of Rishi and Yavin 4 - Travel to the tropical world of Rishi, a dangerous pirate haven at the edge of the galaxy, then continue your story on Yavin 4, home of the fearsome Massassi warriors!

Customize Characters with the New Discipline System - Choose from among a set of new Disciplines, see your Path before you, and customize your combat experience to fit your play style.

This game keeps getting Better and Better as more and more content and storyline keeps rolling out at a fast pace compared to other MMO’s. This game has greatly improved overall compared to what it was when it first launched with new updates, features, story arcs, etc.

Star Wars: The Old Republic is the only other MMO I truly miss playing. I miss my crew and I miss my characters and I miss the story that draws you in. The raids that Burial Detail was able to clear before Mists of Pandaria came out were challenging and a whole lot of fun. So were the in-game special events like the Rakghoul Plague. It was a blast. This game is one that needs to be savored for its story, lore and characters that you play and not just burned through. I had hoped that between WoW expansions we may as a guild return to The Bastion and get back into the stories of The Old Republic but many of us are finding we can barely spare the time for one MMO.

For those that have never played the game and are curious, the combat system is similar to WoW except that you can queue your abilities in a sequence and they will play out in that order and you can hide behind stuff to avoid getting hit. Also the skill trees allow for fine tuning a character much like WoW used to be. If you go solo, one of your crew members can accompany you and depending on their class can either tank, heal, or dps. Quite unlike the hunter pets in WoW, they are customizable through gear and they have a lot of various abilities which can be enabled or disabled allowing you to tailor their AI to the current situation.  They gather mats for you, craft for you, heal, dps, or tank for you plus have stories arcs of their own.

Our current acting GM is Benmont also known as Corbantis, a long time original Burial Detail member from the Burning Crusade and former player of Star Wars Galaxies.

Our guild Burial Detail is located on The Bastion realm. If you were a part of Burial Detail when the game first launched and have not played since the Super Server update project, your characters are sitting in a temporary guild called The Lost Vulkars. You will need to contact Miroki or Benmont to re-join Burial Detail.

If anyone from WoW is interested in checking this game out, please let Miroki know so he can get you hooked up with our Burial Detail Guild in The Old Republic.

Well that pretty much wraps it up for this edition of the guild news. We hope to have more for you next month.

And Remember
